High quality sport
3-year trial
The Dainese Laguna Seca D1 track combination! This is nothing new since it was unveiled during the Dainese 2016 collection, but it has followed us on all our track tests for 3 years. Suddenly, it also allows to see how the suit has aged and evolved.. And in addition, while it was launched just under the 1000 euros mark, it is now found at 650 euros on the net, which makes it a mid-range suit, although it is difficult to speak of mid-range at Dainese as the quality is high, especially on this model. Long term test…

Discovery
The Laguna Seca D1 suit is ranked well by Dainese in its mid-range. It is also a variation of the Evo version. Intended for first-time buyers of track outfits, the D1 has all the essential equipment and details to take the track with panache..
The collar of the Dainese Laguna Seca D1 suit
Sober and elegant, the Laguna Seca D1 hides its qualities under a discreet appearance. Only a large, sharp logo adorns the bust and lower back. Dainese leather can already be recognized by the subtle smell of its tanning, leaving some of this scent mark on your sports sessions. The flexibility of its leather is immediately noticeable, auguring an appreciable ease of movement. Everything is designed for the comfort and efficiency of the pilot.
Dainese leather is quite supple
The suit thus incorporates numerous panels of stretch fabrics along the entire length of the inside of the arms and legs, also surrounding the shoulders, upper knees and thighs. These inserts also reduce heat. However, there are no perforations and the Italian leather will be a bit warm when the weather is above 25 ° C. On the contrary, we will be at ease "all the rest of the year".
We find the Dainese logo on the rear gaiter
The leather is also adorned with gussets on the sides of the bust and numerous inserts optimize ease. Finally, the double elastane collar ensures good comfort.
Gussets and stretch inserts help comfort
We also appreciate the asymmetrical ends of the sleeves and the ergonomic double zips at the bottom of the legs. These ensure an optimal adjustment according to your morphology. Internally, the D1 offers a removable mesh lining, lined with a pocket.
The cuff design is asymmetrical
Safety is also essential. Certified Cat. II according to Directive 89/686 / EEC, the track suit offers numerous reinforcements. Protections co-injected on the shoulders receive screwed titanium plates. The elbows are fitted with the same aluminum systems, interchangeable plastic sliders and the forearms are largely padded. Ditto at the knees. However, you will need to equip yourself with a removable back protector or place an optional one.

Threading
My tall eighty-four meter and 75 kilos fit easily into Italian leather. The Laguna Seca D1 can be put on and taken off without assistance, even to pass the ridge. And all while keeping a cut very close to the body. It’s not a cashmere suit either…. and once all the closures are in place, we would like to go on the handlebars. Perfectly fitted, the Dainese suit can be combined with the Torques D1 boots. These thread their ends lined with Velcro in the lower legs which are therefore fixed around. A system often seen in competition that opposes the usual principle "in" boots.
Well adjusted, the jumpsuit can be put on without difficulty
On track
It is in dynamics that the D1 reveals its potential for comfort / efficiency. A real pleasure on the track. The Dainese Laguna Seca follows your movements without ever limiting you. On the handlebars, the comfort is such that you could almost imagine yourself wearing a lighter outfit. No area of pressure or overheating is felt.
Honda CBR1000RR test with Dainese Laguna Seca D1 suit
Good point, the sliders are resistant and ensure many outings on the slopes. Same observation for the fall…. At 130 km / h in curves, with an overtaken roadster, I sinned by gluttony and lost the grip of both wheels. The leather is marked, but without excess, admitting a good job of the Dainese outfit. And in passing indicating to others your temerity…. or the result of your mistakes…. After exams, good for the service, without ulterior motive.

Conclusion
The Dainese Laguna Seca D1 is a combination of premium protection and comfort. Its perfect adjustment to the pilot and complete accessorization ensures the best performance / look / price ratio. For remarkable durability.
Officially priced at € 995.95, the Laguna Seca D1 is expensive equipment, but fully justifying the investment made at its launch price and becomes a real bargain when it drops to 650 euros.
