Silently and with all-wheel drive through the forest, across the farm or simply take the shortcut via the neighboring field * to the bakery – the electric dirt bike UBCO 2X2 comes with silent all-wheel drive.

UBCO is a New Zealand company, which is why the four-wheel drive electric motorcycle was initially only available on the other side of the world. In the meantime, UBCO has expanded to Australia and the USA, and Europe should join the sales network in 2019.
Operation area? The New Zealand website shows hunters, shepherds and shepherds, but also enduro-hiking tourists, farmers, rangers and construction workers. To get to work or the nearest bakery on a paved road, you don’t need four-wheel drive, but no problem for the e-dirt bike, because the robust bike is also approved for road use – at least in New Zealand, Australia and on the US American market.

UBCO 2X2 weighs 65 kilos

Each of the two wheels is driven by a 1 kW motor. The portable 50-volt battery has a nominal capacity of 48 Ah and should provide a maximum range of 120 kilometers and be fully charged in 6-8 hours. The battery is removable. The top speed is just 48 km / h, the maximum torque is 90 Nm. First and foremost, the UBCO 2X2 is about something else, for example manageable inclines of up to 25 percent, good handling off-road thanks to a low center of gravity and a lot of grip at all times – even on wet meadows.

The low center of gravity ensures good handling even in the off-road area.

All in all, the UBCO 2X2 weighs 65 kilograms thanks to the aluminum frame, rolls up with LED lights at the front, rear and in the turn signal, is equipped with an LC display and is Bluetooth compatible. Together with the UBCO app, all information for the driver can be configured and read out. There are also several connections on board for charging devices on the go: a 120 watt DC 12 V socket and two USB connections. For most of us, probably rather useless, as it loses range. For the hunter who can load the drill to repair his high seat, but possibly interesting. In terms of payload, the manufacturer does not recommend loading anything that weighs heavier than you and a maximum of 150 kilos.

The ATFZ fork has 130 mm of travel, the rear shock absorbers 120 mm. Braking is done with hydraulic disc brakes, the two brake levers on the front of the handlebars are reminiscent of a bicycle, but the pedals are missing. The electric dirt bike rolls on 2.75-17-inch tires, is 180 cm long, 80 cm wide and 108 cm high (without mirrors) while the wheelbase is 125 cm.

Class B driving license is sufficient

Accessories: The accessories program includes rear side bags, base plates for front and rear, side stands, case frames and an adapter set.

Mirrors and complete lighting make the UBCO 2×2 eligible. Prices in New Zealand start at around 5,000 euros. If the UBCO 2X2 comes to Germany in 2018, it will run under the AM driving license class, which is included in class B – provided that the manufacturer reduces the maximum speed to 45 km / h for the European market: “Two-wheeled mopeds (Mokicks, Mopeds) with a maximum speed of 45 km / h and a maximum capacity of 50 ccm (internal combustion engine) or a maximum of 4 kW rated power (electric drive machine) ”, according to the extract from the official catalog of fines.

* There is no guarantee that your neighbor will approve of this process. Unless maybe you bring him an extra bag of rolls and a hot coffee on the way back.
