This year, local hero Julian Puffe (alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW) is putting the icing on the cake. The 22-year-old Schleizer with the number “19” is the overall leader in the IDM Superbike 1000. The motorcycles in the IDM premier class have over 200 hp and are capable of 300 km / h. A varied program on and next to the racetrack ensures another new edition of the cult event.

IDM Superbike 1000

Julian Puffe’s heartbeat is a little louder now. After he regained the lead in the IDM Superbike 1000 class at the Nurburgring last weekend, the fans are watching him even more closely at his home race. When the premier class drives on Germany’s oldest natural race track at the weekend, families, sponsors and fans also come. Even brother Daniel, who was a racing driver himself and now lives in Austria, has registered.

Julian Puffe leads the Superbike standings ahead of his team-mate and defending champion Ilya Mikhalchik. The two BMW drivers are separated by 19 points. The Ukrainian retired while in the lead at the Nurburgring due to a technical defect on the BMW S 1000 RR. Can he shorten his deficit on Puffe in Schleiz? IDM third Erwan Nigon (Kawasaki Weber Motos Racing) is missing in Thuringia. The fast Frenchman contests the final of the endurance world championship in Suzuka (J), which takes place on the same weekend. For Nigon, the world title with a French team is within reach. In the IDM he will be replaced on the Schleizer Dreieck by the Austrian Stefan Kerschbaumer.

With BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha, five brands are involved in the IDM premier class. All of them placed at least one driver in the top 7 of the overall standings. Alessandro Polita (HRP Honda) is fifth, Ricardo Brink (SWPN Yamaha) is sixth and Toni Finsterbusch (Mayer Suzuki) is seventh. The starting field is internationally top-class.

IDM Supersport 600

In the IDM Supersport 600, the tried and tested climbing class, Yamaha has power in the top ten, led by Max Enderlein (Freudenberg WorldSSP Team). But the Hohenstein Ernstthaler cannot rest on his laurels. The Australian Tom Toparis (Benro Racing) follows the Saxon in the intermediate championship standings in the slipstream.

Only Gabriel Noderer and Christoph Beinlich (Kawasaki Weber Motos Racing) provide splashes of color in the Yamaha Armada. They occupy positions five and ten in the table. The drivers of the Superstock 600 class are integrated in the Supersport field. Here, less changes to the motorcycles are allowed. The classes are rated separately. In order to be able to visually distinguish them on the track, the IDM Supersport 600 drivers have white start number boards with blue numbers. The Superstock department has blue boards with white letters.

IDM Supersport 300

Rick Dunnik (Yamaha), Angelo Licciardi (Kawasaki) and Colin Velthuizen (Nutec-RT Motorsport by SKM-Kawasaki) are the top drivers in the IDM Supersport 300. The youngsters aged 13 and over fight for IDM points.

David Kuban from the Czech Republic is fourth overall and pushes a KTM into the grid. The best German is currently in fifth place Troy Beinlich (Kawasaki), the younger brother of Christoph Beinlich from the 600 class. You come from Pobneck, only 40 kilometers from Schleiz.

IDM sidecar

In the IDM Sidecar there is a reunion with Tim Reeves / Mark Wilkes, Markus Schlosser / Marcel Fries, Bennie Streuer / Kevin Rousseau and Josef Sattler / Uwe Neubert. The purely German duo will arrive in Schleiz in full on the last groove. Because Sattler had an engine failure at the World Championship run last weekend in Oschersleben and the technology has to be replaced, he cannot set off with fresh engines until Thursday. This year, numerous teams with a displacement of 600 cubic centimeters from the world championship are taking part in the IDM Sidecar.

Brand cups and supporting program

Seasoned with the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Cup, the Twin Cup and the BMW Motorrad BoxerCup, the program on the Schleizer Dreieck is a tasty mixture. Public award ceremonies and autograph sessions in the paddock are offered to the spectators. Honda invites fans and those who want to become one to test drives with motorcycles from the current model range. And at the race party you can really rock out in the evening.
