No particular danger

The route closure for motorcyclists on the L415 between Sprendlingen and Ober-Hilbersheim imposed in April 2018 must be withdrawn. That has now been decided by the Mainz Bingen administrative court.

As the Federal Association of Motorcyclists (BVDM) has now announced, the administrative court does not see any particular danger due to motorcyclists that would justify blocking the route. The argument that the route is popular with bikers is not enough. The court also saw no particular focus of accidents caused by motorcyclists. The block must therefore be withdrawn. The prohibition signs are to be dismantled as soon as possible.

Blocked since April 2018

The state road 415 from Sprendlingen in the direction of Ober-Hilbersheim was closed to motorcycles on April 11, 2018 because a large number of motorcycle accidents had occurred. The suspension should initially last 6 months. The situation should then be re-analyzed.

Previously, the crash barriers on the route in the curve area were provided with underrun protection elements. A possible installation of vibrating strips on the L 415 was discarded. Increased two-wheeler controls did not bring any improvement either. As a result, the local authorities only saw the possibility of closing the route for motorcycles as a target-oriented and accident-minimizing measure.
