Now the Hochtaunuskreis is getting serious and is implementing the previously announced trial closings for motorcyclists. The dates and the exact route sections have been set. The Federal Association of Motorcyclists has announced a protest and suspects that the official measure, which is initially limited to 18 days in May and September, is intended to prepare a permanent block.

In May and September, sections of the route in the Grober Feldberg im Taunus are closed to motorbikes on two dates: over two weekends in each case, the L 3004 from the Oberursel sign to the Schmitten sign, the L 3024 from Sandplacken until shortly before the Feldberg approach Sandplacken, and the L3276 will be closed for motorbikes from Sandplacken to Oberreifenberg. This was announced by the road traffic authority of the Hochtaunus district. The first lockdown will begin at midnight on May 11th and end at midnight on May 19th. The second lockdown begins on September 7th, midnight and lasts until midnight on Sunday, September 15th.

Even motorcyclists who live on the closed routes do not get a special permit, the authority said. There should only be a resident regulation, which says that every motorcyclist “will come from or home”, it says in the message of the Hochtaunuskreis. For all motorcyclists there should be regional signposting of the diversion routes during the period of the two closures. The blocked sections as well as the diversion routes should be monitored by the police. In addition to noise, the Hochtaunuskreis also cites the high number of motorcycle accidents in the region as the reason for the planned closure.

BVDM announces resistance

The Federal Association of Motorcyclists, BVDM, has sharply criticized the planned measure in a statement and instead calls for “permanent and consistent speed controls”. These are intended to ensure that the population is protected from “aggressive motorcycle noise”. Michael Wilczynski from the BVDM’s section on route closures: “We have the impression that the Hochtaunuskreis District Office is taking the cheap and easy route and punishes all motorcyclists by closing routes.” Against route closures, which, in the opinion of the association, are neither a solution for the noise problem nor for The BVDM wants to continue taking legal action and has announced that it will organize the resistance against these line closures: “We are planning large demonstrations and will not shy away from legal disputes if there are permanent line closures. The most recent trials have shown that the courts mostly follow the BVDM’s line of argument. “
