At the same time last year, the motorcycle market (market for motorized two-wheelers over 50 cc) was turned upside down by the imminent entry into force of the Euro4 standard and the scrapping of Euro3 models … or rather their sudden registrations by dealers, importers or subsidiaries !
Credited with an extraordinary increase in sales of + 24.7%, the month of promised to be difficult – not to say impossible! – to be equal … Twelve months later however, Site notes that the registrations of motorcycles and scooters of "125 cc and more" have again increased !
Even limited to + 1.8%, the increase observed in November 2017 confirms the attraction of the French for motorcycles and scooters, and the interest they have in riding on them: whether to have fun on an "exciting "and any new mount or to save time thanks to a shiny and" utility "125, 530 or 1200 cc ?
Exit the prefectures
MNC specifies that it is now unnecessary to compare the number of working days since the gray cards are no longer issued in the prefectures, open from Monday to Friday: since November 6, 2017, the procedures to obtain a certificate of registration is carried out via the Internet "24/7".
The weather, on the other hand, is always taken into account and could explain the good results renewed this year, compared to those boosted by the new standards but somewhat lessened by the dire conditions of November 2016: very cold temperatures and precipitation. abundant. Yuck…
In November 2017, on the contrary, the mercury never fell too low: "softness and freshness alternated", Meteo-France analysis in its own report, while "precipitation was again infrequent (as in, Editor’s note) "and" there was a surplus of sunshine over most of the country ". Yum !
In absolute terms, however, the days continue to grow sadly and temperatures start to drop dramatically, so motorcycle sales can only slow down. The overwhelming majority of manufacturers see their scores drop as winter approaches…
At the 125 cc, sales slipped by around 500 units between October and November. Two Japanese brands, however, manage to go up the slope: Yamaha and Suzuki sold more small motorcycles and scooters in November than in October! Peugeot and KTM stay level while Honda, Piaggio, Kymco, Sym, Mash hit the slope.
Among large cubes, the slippage is around 2250 registrations between the 10th and 11th month 2017. The leading quartet does not change but is running out of steam, logically. Triumph in good shape reaches the "Top Five" and Only Ducati benefits from renewed vigor after a weak month of October.
