MV Agusta and its (top) Varese models are gradually adopting ABS. After the series of in February, it’s the turn of to welcome the Bosch 9MP system. As for the small 3-cylinder, they will wait until 2014.

"At the heart of the ABS system installed on the MV Agusta F4 supersport models is the compact and light", proudly announces the Italian firm. Like its Brutale 4-cylinder roadsters, its Superbikes will no longer fear emergency braking !

"The main objective is naturally to reduce the braking distance in wet, wet or any other surface with reduced grip," explains the Varese-based manufacturer. The customer will appreciate above all the economy of expensive parts: fairings, levers, housings, rims, tank, frame, etc. ?

MV Agusta also underlines the RLM effect of the German system which prevents any lifting of the rear wheel during heavy braking. A good point according to the Italians since "this situation is not unknown on sports motorcycles equipped with extremely powerful braking systems"…

Two ABS modes are offered in order to best match the tarmac and the needs of the pilot: the "Normal" mode which prevents any start of sliding, and the "Race" mode which makes it possible to attack on the track or on the road if the conditions require allow. And that "trappers" adept at extreme braking be reassured: it is also possible to completely deactivate the system..

The F4 ABS option costs 1000 euros (against 600 euros on the Brutale): the F4 ABS is therefore displayed at a price of 17,990 €, the F4 R ABS at 20,290 € and the F4 RR "full electronic" ABS at € 25,290.

Note to those who do not have this amount in their account that the 3-cylinder (Brutale 675, 800, F3) will in turn benefit from ABS, "but not before 2014, time for Bosch and our factory to calibrate all this correctly ", warns us Michel Schietequatte, sales director of MV Agusta in France.
