Road fatalities increase further in November
The increase in the number of fatal accidents on the roads of France continued in November, with an increase of 3.6% compared to November 2014 (290 deaths against 280). A worrying trend, even if the provisional road safety report shows a decrease in injuries following an accident (-3.7%).

In total, over the first eleven months of 2015, the number of people killed increased by 2.1%, ie 66 more road victims compared to the same period of 2014. This provisional assessment takes into account the 43 people died in the dramatic bus accident in October in Gironde (33), the deadliest encountered in France for 33 years.
The 2015 results therefore seem to be heading towards a negative annual result, in line with the trend of, the first year marked by an increase in road fatalities for 12 years (+ 3.5%). If true next month, it would be the first time in 35 years that road fatalities have experienced two bad years in a row.
Contrary to popular belief, this continuous increase is mainly due to motorists: biker mortality is down slightly, like last year. Ranked 14th in Europe in terms of road safety, France is therefore still unable to stop these poor results despite the progress of its entire arsenal of point traps.
Conversely, no concrete action is taken concerning the improvement of the road network, the training and tracking of drivers under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication … real political will, reflection and resources.
