Road fatalities jump 30.4% in September !
The improvement was short-lived: mortality on the roads of France increased in September after three consecutive months of decline, and dramatically since the increase reached 30.4% (+ 78 deaths) compared to September 2015. The National Interministerial Road Safety Observatory (ONISR) blames this tragic increase on unfavorable weather last year.
"This increase in road fatalities should be compared with a statistical comparison with an exceptional month which had seen a very sharp drop in the number of people killed on the roads, in part due to very unfavorable weather conditions, marked by severe rains and floods", develops the government body, always quick to find external causes for increases while the decreases are on the other hand systematically to be put to the credit of the repressive policy and the" effectiveness "of !
Good news nonetheless: all the other indicators of road accidents are down: bodily accidents fell by -1.2% and the number of people injured on the roads fell by -3.4%. On the other hand, the results for the first nine months of the year are now darker with + 3.1% of road fatalities compared to the same period in 2015, i.e. 76 additional deaths.
