One of the main 2016 novelties unveiled by Ducati at the EICMA motorbike show in Milan is the XDiavel, the expected customized and belt-driven variation of the Diavel (read). This power cruiser receives a new 1262cc variable valve twin-cylinder DVT developing 156 hp and some 13.1 mkg of torque.

As the stolen photos carefully studied by MNC suggested, this XDiavel departs from the roadster characteristics cultivated on the current Diavel to follow the codes in force in the custom category. The hunting angle goes down and the position is now articulated around a handlebars curved backwards and very advanced footrests, cruiser style.

One of the particularities of this bike is also due to its flexible ergonomics: no less than 60 different combinations would be possible by modifying the seat height (755 mm of origin), the placement of the handlebars and that of the footrests. An interesting modularity in terms of comfort, the principle of which can already be observed on the, in particular.

The exhaust is completely redesigned and ends with a double outlet inclined upwards and placed on the right. The final transmission is via a belt, a solution commonly used on customs but which Ducati is using for the very first time. Electronics hold an important place on this new very stylish motorcycle whose aggressiveness is enhanced with touches of chrome and polished metal.

The XDiavel carries a sophisticated inertial unit – as on the -, capable of determining the position of the motorcycle along different axes to refine the action of the traction control and the configurable ABS. Several driving modes are available, as well as a cruise control and a departure assistant. The best to launch the 240 kg announced on pole fire !

The instrumentation uses the color TFT matrices now usual at Ducati, while the lighting is entirely entrusted to LEDs. Ducati announces that the new twin-cylinder of 1262 cc (against 1198 cc currently) develops a power of 156 hp and above all a significant torque of 13.1 mkg, obtained from 5000 rpm.

Despite its increase in displacement obtained thanks to a longer stroke, this new DVT variable-valve engine delivers 4 horsepower less than the previous one, no doubt due to the application of Euro4 standards. This new model will also be available in an S version, even more upscale thanks, among other things, to its M50 radial calipers – as on the Panigale -, its forged rims and its brushed aluminum parts..

The Ducati XDiavel will be available at the start of 2016 from € 20,390 (€ 23,390 for the S), a nice increase compared to the current standard Diavel, available at € 18,790…
