The KTM 690 Duke, already tested by some "happy few" in its, is officially discovered at the Milan Eicma 2015 Motorcycle Show, accompanied by its sharp declination R. As indicated on, its single cylinder (to Euro 4 standards) goes from 68 to 73 hp and its torque from 70 to 74 Nm. Announced no longer available, the LC4 engine would resume from 2500 rpm and gain 1000 turns of extension … Yum !

More powerful, lighter but also more comfortable

An additional balance shaft reduces the vibrations of this dry toy by 148.5 kg. Or 1 kg less than the old model, scraped in particular thanks to a new exhaust.

The 2016 KTM 690 Duke also improves with a redesigned saddle for the benefit of comfort (which is not luxury!), An optimized turning radius and fully digital TFT matrix instrumentation with handlebar control..

It receives as standard a deactivatable ABS – whose action takes into account the inclination on the R -, an anti-skid linked to the three driving modes (Sport, Road and Rain) and an anti-dribble clutch. Added to this are its peripherals as luxurious as they are efficient: Brembo 4-piston radial caliper, WP suspensions adjustable in all directions, hyper compact trellis frame connected to an aluminum rear buckle.

In addition to its more sophisticated ABS – whose action is correlated to the angle of the motorcycle as on the 1190 and 1290 Adventure trails – the R version stands out with its LED indicators, its passenger seat cowl and its Akrapovic silencer. This high-end exhaust would, according to KTM, "make a significant contribution to the additional 2 hp" compared to the standard model, ie 75 hp in all. Or a horse more than the twin of the MT-07 !

Finally, its tendency to shed easily would now be countered thanks to a slightly open caster angle via an offset of the triple clamp. A good idea to compose more serenely with the ardor of the most powerful single cylinder in the world! KTM announces a price which would remain similar to the current one, or 7850 euros. Yes it is horribly expensive … but what is it good (read our) !
