New registrations France 2017
Japanese bikes dominate
While the BMW R 1200 GS ranks first in the registration statistics for Germany and Italy in 2017, the Yamaha MT-07 and Kawasaki Z 650 make themselves comfortable in the top places in France.

The first 20 places in our neighbor France’s new motorcycle registration statistics are largely shared by Japanese motorcycle manufacturers: five Kawasakis, four Yamahas, three Hondas and two Suzuki. That leaves six of the 20 ranks. They go to BMW, Harley-Davidson and Triumph models, while KTM with the 1290 Super Duke in 21st and Ducati with the Scrambler in 22nd just missed out on the top list. The KTM lacks in 20th place (Kawasaki Z 1000 SX with 956 approvals) exactly 36 and the Duc 44 approvals.

Top 20 consideration including large scooters
When it comes to scooters with a displacement of over 125 cm³, France’s registration statistics are between Germany and Italy. Last year, just one scooter made it into the German top 20 with the Vespa GTS 300 (3rd place with 4,051 registrations). In Italy, the Honda SH 150, Honda SH 300 and Piaggio Beverly 300 sold better than the most popular motorcycle – the R 1200 GS achieved 5,797 registrations in Italy.

The most popular scooter with over 125 cc displacement in France is the Yamaha XP 500 TMax, which, with its 4,571 registrations, is right behind the number 1, the Yamaha MT-07. The next large scooter follows in 8th place: Honda X-ADV with 1,941 registrations. And the third in the group that romps in the top 20 of motorized two-wheelers over 125 cm³ is the Yamaha YP 300 (1,210 approvals).
Royal Enfield Bullet 500 ranked 25th
A real exotic is not to be found in the motorcycle new registrations of our neighbors in 2017. At least not in the top 20. But in 25th place is the Royal Enfield Bullet 500 with 879 registrations, which we think is worth mentioning. In Germany it was 79th in 2017 (371 approvals).
