An electrically powered Solex !

The famous Solex of our grandmothers returns this year in a new ecological version with a sustainable development trend: the e-Solex equipped with an electric motor in the hub of the rear wheel … Presentation at the Paris Motor Show.

The stainless Velosolex returns this year in a new ecological version, a sustainable development trend: the e-Solex, equipped with an electric motor in the hub of the rear wheel and no longer at the front. To preserve the famous historic design, the location of the roller motor has been retained but it now accommodates a safe !

The mutation of the Solex 3800 towards propulsion does not change its performance: the machine boasts a speed of 35 km / h and a range of approximately 1 hour and 30 km with the original battery (Lithium -ion ​​36 V x 15 Ah). Weighing 5 kg, it is located in the central beam of the frame and has a lifespan of two years (count eight hours for each load at 100%).

With its 400 watt motor at 36 volts and its weight of 45 kg, the e-Solex offers a different ride while saving the planet. The marketing plan seems relevant and the mythical machine inherits the passage of front and rear disc brakes, a speedometer and a keyed front trunk. !

How will this French brand and Franco-Italian engineered machine designed by Pininfarina be produced and marketed? Herve Lacroix, director of development for e-Solex, predicts a blend "in Europe or Asia"(sic). Always looking for the ideal distribution network for le-Solex, the entrepreneur foresees"a sale mid-2006 for a price which should approach 1150 euros"and hope to sell it"10,000 per year in France and around 30,000 in Europe".

Will the e-Solex be able to seduce a generation of sweet dreamers or new pedestrians? In any case, it can count on the fact that its main clientele, made up of individuals over 14 years of age with or without a license (but with the Road Safety Patent for those born after 1988) is growing as the pink papers pile up in license suspension commissions !
