New Triumph Street Scrambler 2017: first information
Unveiled at the last Intermot show, the Bonneville T100, T100 Black and Street Cup are joined in the clan of small "Modern Classic" Triumphs by the essential Scrambler, presented at the Eicma… and on MNC, of course.
If in 2016 the sparkling gave a serious boost to the "Modern Classic" range of Triumph, its successive versions for 2017 fully play – and rightly – the card of tradition! Latest example: the Street Scrambler, discovered on the catwalks of the Eicma show in Milan (Italy).
Like, and presented last month in Cologne, the new Scrambler uses the 900 cc "little" twin set at 270 ° that A2 license holders will be able to clamp to 35 kW. Naturally, the last born stands out from its siblings thanks to its double high exhaust in brushed stainless steel, lined with imposing heat shields.
The fork – bellows, "what else?" – and the rear suspension units are revised to increase the height of the bike, while the aluminum handlebars are widened to offer a typical driving position – a little – more "off-road". A shoe is also responsible for protecting the engine in case of crossing stones … and sidewalks !
A pair of black spoke rims (19 inches at the front, 17 at the rear) and a pair of Metzeler Tourance "dual-use" tires are logically fitted to the new Triumph. There is also an interchangeable passenger seat with a standard luggage rack. The double saddle and the single Vance & Hines silencers visible in some photos (see gallery below) are part of the accessories.
Finally, the 2017 Scrambler does not just mimic the look of its illustrious predecessors, since it allows the driver to disconnect the ABS – in addition to the traction control, as is the case on other Triumphs – in order to ” improve the behavior of the motorcycle in off-road.
