New Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 2017: first information
Aprilia makes the same modifications to its Dorsoduro as its new Shiver: a displacement increased from 750 to 900cc for better performance in compliance with Euro4 standards. Noale’s big supermoto, built on the same engine and chassis platform as the roadster, also inherits traction control and new peripherals for 2017.
As with the, the Dorsoduro’s twin cylinder displacement rise is achieved by increasing stroke from 56.4 to 67.4mm (the bore remains at 92mm). In the same way as on the roadster, the gain of this reaming is concentrated on the torque, which goes from 82 Nm on the 750 cc to 90 on the 900. However, the power remains similar to that of the previous Dorsoduro: 95, 2 hp at 8750 rpm. A few more horses would not have been to displease us (read our)…
Now Euro4, the V-twin open at 90 ° takes the opportunity to improve its lubrication system and introduce a double lambda probe pollution control device. The fully electronic accelerator ("full ride-by-wire", emphasize the Italians) is connected to a new Marelli 7SM control unit and still controls three driving modes: Rain, Touring and Sport. As on the Shiver 900, the "Dorso 900 "completes its electronic equipment with a new traction control adjustable on three levels. This system can be deactivated, an interesting criterion on this kind of" fun "motorcycles which lend themselves readily to a few" extras " !
The ABS now assists the work of the 4-piston radial calipers – Euro4 obliges – as standard, while a new color TFT matrix display appears. The chassis combining tubular steel trellis and aluminum plates does not change in depth, but the dynamic behavior is refined by means of a new thinner fork (“-450 g”) adjustable in preload and rebound as well as rims. “2 kg” lighter sticks.
Finally, as on the Shiver roadster, the lines of the Dorsoduro 900 remain identical to the 750 cc model. Certainly, the original pencil stroke has aged well and the silencers under the saddle still produce their small effect, but a re-styling would have been appropriate to support this increase in displacement. Likewise, a larger tank (12 liters!) Would be appreciated on this bike, which is also available in A2 version, whose stocks are currently sold off at € 7999.
