The new G310 R and G310 GS meet Euro5 motorcycle standards
BMW is applying slight changes to its small G310 R roadster and its G310 GS trail variant, two 34 hp natively A2 motorcycles which are now Euro5 approved. Presentations, technical sheets, prices and availability.
Launched at the end of 2015, the and are the gateway to the BMW motorcycle range with their 313 cc single cylinder engineered for A2 licenses – 34 hp and 28 Nm – combined with a contained template. Their implementation with Euro5 does not upset these fundamentals since performance, weight and dimensions are unchanged (see technical sheets below).

The main changes relate to the introduction of an electronic throttle and an automatic idle increase system to avoid stalling, as on some Suzuki motorcycles. The anti-dribble clutch is also revised on this engine which renews its inverted cylinder head (intake towards the front and exhaust towards the rear).
The roadster and the trail take the opportunity to switch entirely to LEDs (headlight, light, indicators), but remain on the other hand equipped with a classic monochrome display. The lack of a real windshield, a center stand and handguards are still annoying on the G310 GS, as are its stick wheels (in 19 and 17 "against 17 front-rear on the roadster). "Adventure", all that…
Improvements in small steps
The G310 GS makes up for it in part with its standard luggage rack, as well as its plastic shoe. BMW adds levers now adjustable in four positions, while the cycle part does not move one iota: tubular frame, inverted 41 mm non-adjustable fork and 300 mm front disc with radial caliper are identical.
The only major difference between the roadster and the trail, besides the trim: the greater suspension travel on the "GS", which displays 180 mm of travel at the front and rear against 150 and 140 mm on the " R ". The seat height is therefore 835 mm on the G310 GS against 785 mm on the G310 R, otherwise more accessible..
These "novelties" retain top speed and consumption identical to 2020, despite their transition to Euro5: "143 km / h" and "3.3 l / 100 km" for these two interpretations of the same platform, assures BMW. Surprising similarities in that the "GS" is significantly larger and heavier than the "R" (158.5 kg against 175 kg)…
Colors, availability and prices
The G310 R will be available "late 2020, early 2021" in gray or black as standard and optionally in white with optional red accents ("Sport" paint). The G310 GS is only available in white and gray as standard: its "Rally" and "40th anniversary" paints – more attractive – are optional.
Asked by MNC, BMW France indicates that the G310R will be marketed at a price of "5,270 euros", up from 130 euros. Similar increase for the G310GS which appears at the rather high price – for a 300 cc – of 6,170 euros.
Remember that this "G" series is built in Bangalore (India) by one of BMW’s Asian partners: TVS Motor Compagny. The Indian giant also manufactures a sporty version of the G310 – – whose arrival in Europe with the BMW coat of arms is in the boxes of the German manufacturer…
