The Slovenian rim manufacturer Rotobox presented a new forged rim made of carbon with the Rad Bullet at EICMA.

The new Rotobox Bullet rim presented in Milan is made with a three-component composite technology of carbon fiber, resin and stainless steel. The rustproof 2.5 mm thick steel wire is integrated into each side of the carbon rim and is intended to increase the impact resistance of the rim edge.
For optimal torque transmission, the high-strength aluminum CNC-milled wheel hub (also anodized in color according to customer requirements) is firmly inserted into a pentagon-shaped element. The extremely thin spokes are made of a high-quality carbon fiber yarn specially developed for military use from carbon fiber flakes in a high-pressure process – Rotobox uses the term “forged” for this. The rim bed is made of carbon fabric and fits seamlessly to the spokes. The rim surface is sealed with a high-strength clear lacquer. Rotobox has titanium screws ready for screwing brake discs and chain wheels.

Extremely light weight
In addition to their spectacular appearance, the rims should especially impress with their low weight. A front wheel measuring 3.5×17 inches weighs 2.72 kilograms, a rear wheel measuring 6×17 inches weighs 4.06 kilograms. The complete set of wheels is 6.78 kilograms.
Rotobox names 1,395 euros as the price for a bullet front wheel, with local taxes also having to be added. The rear wheel costs 1,885 euros in the symmetrical design for two-arm swing arms. The convex version for single-sided swinging is charged at € 2,065. The rims meet the JASO T203-85 test standard and are therefore also suitable for road use. They can be adapted to numerous current models.
