Rukka M ° Clima cooling and heating vest
New technology for summer and winter

Clothing manufacturer Rukka, together with its technology partner Mat Group, has developed a new undergarment that has both a cooling and a heating function: the M ° Clima vest.

The Mat Group holds the patent for the so-called M ° Clima technology. It should ensure a constant temperature under the station wagon regardless of external influences.

A fan attached to the left hip with a Velcro fastener pumps air into the vest in cooling mode and ensures permanent circulation inside. This should regulate the temperature to a comfortable level, but excessive cooling is not possible.

The patent for the biker air conditioning is owned by the Mat Group.

In heating mode, the heating plates integrated into the M ° Clima vest are electrically heated on the front and in the kidney area. Here, too, the manufacturer clearly communicates that the goal is not a particularly high level of heat output, but rather stabilizing a comfortable temperature. According to the manufacturer, the plates keep a constant temperature of around 45 degrees Celsius. Both heating and cooling can be activated via a remote control.

Battery and on-board power supply

In order to be able to use the heating and cooling function, the vest must be connected to the on-board network of the motorcycle using an enclosed cable. If there is no on-board socket, the system can be connected directly to the vehicle battery. Alternatively, the battery included in the equipment can be used, but then only cooling is available.

in cooperation between Rukka and Mat Group, the new vest will be branded “Rukka powered by M ° Clima” expelled.

According to data from Rukka the battery is also not suitable for use while driving, but to maintain the cooling function when getting off the bike during longer breaks. The capacity of one charge should be sufficient for around two hours of cooling.

Rukka rejects concerns that the large fan could pose an increased risk of injury in the event of a fall. The component is manufactured without any adhesive or screw connections and should “crumble” in the event of a strong impact without any risk to the bones. For maximum safety, the battery should not be stowed in the back pocket provided while driving, but rather in a tank bag at best.

Test impressions will follow soon

The M ° Clima vest is currently being tested in the MOTORRAD editorial team. We will add the first impressions of the wearing comfort and the performance of the heating and cooling function as soon as possible.
