From 2001 onwards, three versions of the ZRX 1200 delighted fans of the hoarse, rumbling four-cylinder sound: a completely undisguised, the said R and the half-cased S. Sought-after treasure: 1307 ZRX 1200 R were sold new in Germany until 2007. Used it is the most popular ZRX.

Motorcycle dealers are usually very happy to trade in a ZRX 1200 in its original condition and from first hand. The reason for this: The mechanics are considered unbreakable, there are no hidden flaws to be feared. The emphasis is on “In original condition and from first hand”.

Once Kawasaki’s Big Bike has become the challenge trophy for dynamic rural youth, reliability often goes downhill rapidly – keyword “maintenance backlog”. This is definitely not a Kawa peculiarity, but one thing makes the ZRX even more difficult: It is extremely popular in the conversion / streetfighter scene, which does not necessarily have to be useful for reliability.

 On the contrary: When the offer includes “rear conversion” and “sports exhaust”, and possibly also “special paintwork”, most dealers wave them down with good reason. Behavior that is also a good tip for private buyers. A clear message: as standard = buy. Remodeling = rather not.

The market situation of the Kawasaki ZRX 1200 / S / R.

D.he most expensive new ZRX is the cheapest used ZRX. As a new machine, the half-clad ZRX 1200 S always cost 300 euros more than the one wearing a bikini ZRX 1200 R and sold significantly better with a total of 3494 copies.

Accordingly, the S is often offered as a used machine today – and stays there the longest, because it is by far the least popular second-hand ZRX. Used buyers almost always look for the R; which can be cumbersome, because most R owners know what they have in their fat and rarely part with her.

An R costs at least 500 euros more than a comparable S. It is practically impossible to find in the low-price category mentioned below. The completely naked ZRX was already a rarity as a new machine and plays almost no role on the used market. If one is offered, the price is between S and R.
