The top 50 bikes among our neighbors
The new registration year 2020 is over. We look to France for the top 50 new registrations for two-wheelers. At the top are two 125cc scooters. The first motorcycle, the Yamaha MT-07, only followed in third place.

As in Germany, the 125 cc motorcycles and especially scooters are particularly popular in France. Accordingly, there are two scooters at the top of registrations for 2020 with the Yamaha XMax 125 and the Honda Forza 125.

In third place, the Yamaha MT-07 has established itself as the first motorcycle. Directly behind it follows another scooter with the Yamaha XMax 560 – but this time one of the big class. Fifth place went to the Kawasaki Z 900. The top 10 in France are rounded off by the Honda PCX 125 scooter, the BMW R 1250 GS, the Kawasaki Z 650, the BMW R 1250 GS as an adventure variant and the Yamaha Tracer 900.
BMW GS also strong in France
If the French added up the two GS versions, the Bayern boxer would have 5,596 new registrations and thus in second place. The same applies to the Suzuki GSX-S 750 – it is also listed twice as an A2 variant (37th place) and unthrottled (35th place). With a total of 2,100 new registrations, it would land in tenth place. The new registration statistics of the Chambre Syndicale Internationale de l’Automobile et du Motocycle (CSIAM) do not take into account three-wheeled scooters that are allowed to be driven with a car driver’s license. Above all, the Piaggio MP3, which is very popular in the French metropolises, would hit the top 50.

The Royal Enfield brand is also strong in France, placing two models in the top 50. The 48th place for the Triumph Rocket III is also noteworthy.

The top 50 for 2020 will be decided by the Moto Guzzi V85 TT, which is obviously also well received by the French audience. Overall, the French market focuses on motorcycles up to mid-range and many scooters.
Conclusion
The French market works very differently than the German motorcycle market. Real big bikes are rarely sold, but lots of scooters and motorcycles up to the middle class.
