This is the question we can ask ourselves when discovering the new 600 supersport from Triumph. The memory of the TT 600 lives on in people’s minds. No more curves: the new English girl went on a diet (she now weighs 165 kgs dry) and her plastic has angulated. it almost looks like an origami. However, its lines remain too massive compared to the new Japanese standards. The 4-legged has also been modified and its behavior is now softer but its character is still not inspiring. Before 6000 revs, nothing … then a weak thrust appears and it is only around 8000 trs that the mill wakes up. Once on the track, there is no choice: you have to stay above 10,000 trs all the time. However, virtually all 600 sports cars behave this way. However, its cousin, the 600 Speed Four, benefits from the same mill as the TT 600 but with specific mapping which makes it very endearing. Why didn’t you get that one back ?
The chassis reveals a certain efficiency on the track, but which is not yet as formidable as the Japanese 600. Lively, stable and provided with excellent braking, its behavior is closer to the old 600 CBRs than to the extreme Kawa ZX-6RR. And then, the box still has some way to go. The Daytona has more to smile: the driving position is acceptable, the suspensions comfortable and the saddle pleasant. Sporty in its own right, the Daytona 600 will be appreciated both on the circuit and on the road, its versatility depriving it of a few tenths per lap..
