Triumph 1050 SPEED TRIPLE R 2012

Menus

At first it was only supposed to be a fun night. Miss Daytona 675 R had invited the spirited 1050 Speed Triple for a drink. We discuss 3 cylinders, we drink another, we stroke the tank, we don’t know what we’re doing…. and when it was time to set off again, the Speed Triple realized that its driving had changed quite a bit.

Upon awakening and after a hangover, the roadster receives a phone call from the Daytona R: “What did you do with my fork, screwed up!?!” And there, everything is explained. This optimized handling, this agility, this lightness. After this evening, the Speed Triple is now also tattooed with the sportsman R.

We thus find on this Speed an inverted NIX 30 fork and a TTX36 shock absorber from the famous Swedish manufacturer. There is also a rear frame painted in red as on the Daytona 675 R, some carbon parts (radiator scoops, airbox cover, front fender), and above all new forged aluminum PVM rims that are 1 lighter. , 7 kilos. Combined with Brembo monobloc braking, the Speed announces that it has gained 5% in braking efficiency. Dynamically, this new team of optimized wheels + suspensions is nothing but good news. The roadster should gain an impressive liveliness. This Speed Triple R inaugurates the new gearbox which will eventually equip all Speed 1050s. This is enough to exploit even more sportily the 3-cylinder 135 horsepower, whose tri-cylindrical breath never ceases to captivate pilot and thorn. dorsal.

There remains a small detail but which takes on a delicate importance here: the price. At more or less 15,000 euros the end (presence or not of ABS), or the price of a hypersport, the Speed R is not given. And yet, at the sight of the on-board gear, we see that the English roadster does not eat away at us. Not only does the overall efficiency go up a notch, the quality of the elements flatter the retina as well as the sensations, but in addition, the additional cost can be considered very reasonable. By buying these items separately, you would have for almost 5 to 6,000 euros to add to the price of a normal Speed Triple.
