Nardo gray, chalk, moonstone gray – over the past few years, gray has become a very popular vehicle color that doesn’t stop at two-wheelers either. In Switzerland – and only there – the two Vespas GTS 300 Super and the GTS 125 Super are now available in this color. “Gray materia” is the name of the painting at Vespa. The number is limited to 300 copies.

Aluminum badge with consecutive number

The special thing about the Swiss Edition, in addition to the special paint, is the aluminum plate, which is attached to the inside of the plate and shows the serial number of the respective GTS special model. That was it with the unique selling points. Since the look is a decisive factor for many Vespa buyers, both the gray copies of the Vespa GTS 300 Super as well as the 125 GTS can be sold out quickly.

The technical basis of the Swiss Edition corresponds to the GTS Super 125 and 300. For the 2021 model year, all GTS models will receive freshly designed rims, new colors and technical adjustments for the Euro 5 standard. The GTS 125 models also have a revised and 17 percent more powerful, water-cooled engine. This should now deliver over 14 hp. The HPE engine of the 300 cm³ model, with its 23.8 hp, is the most powerful engine ever installed in a Vespa.

LED lights and smartphone pairing

Like the conventional GTS Super, the Swiss Edition also has 12-inch tires, ABS / ASR, LED all-round lighting, a USB port, a bike finder and an analog speedometer. But that doesn’t mean it is old-fashioned – Piaggio’s connectivity system “MIA” connects the smartphone to the Vespa on request.

The Vespa GTS 125 Super “Swiss Edition” costs CHF 5,745, the equivalent of around 5,300 euros, for the Vespa GTS 300 Super “Swiss Edition” CHF 6,545 is called, which corresponds to around 6,040 euros.

Conclusion

The Vespa GTS 300 Super led the new registration statistics for large scooters in Germany in 2020, while the Vespa Primavera and the Vespa GTS 125 Super clearly dominated the statistics for light scooters. In this country, a limited edition in the trendy gray could also be well received, but unfortunately does not seem to be planned.
