Fate is hitting Jules Cluzel … Betrayed a second time by his official MV Agusta, our ” Coq Supersportif ” leaves Spain without the slightest additional point. Kenan Sofuolglu pocketed 25 and took the lead in the championship.

Supersport Race

Jules Cluzel sets off perfectly from his pole position and takes the lead ahead of Kenan Sofuoglu, Patrick Jacobsen, Kyle Smith, Lucas Mahias, Ratthapark Wilairot, Gino Rea, Marco Faccani, Roberto Rolfo, Fabio Menghi, etc. Our national champion Lucas passes Kyle in the first round !

Jacobsen passed Sofuoglu on the first braking of the 2nd lap while Cluzel was half a second ahead. But the gap is quickly reduced to nothing by the American and in the next round, "PJ" takes the controls by reproducing his attack at the very beginning of the 3rd round..

Sofuoglu surprises Cluzel a few moments later: hostilities are launched between the two favorites for the 2015 title! The two men passed each other three times in the 3rd lap and Cluzel ended up gaining the upper hand by taking the n ° 54 Kawasaki’s vacuum and delaying his braking as much as possible near the last curve..

Fortunately for Jules and Kenan, Patrick does not take the opportunity to walk away. Lucas Mahias, on the other hand, separated from the peloton and found himself less than a second from the leading trio … before falling! The French n ° 14 is accompanied in the gravel by Faccani and Wilairot. Smith therefore inherits fourth place ahead of Rea, Zanetti, Menghi, Baldolini and Cardenas.

In front, Jules Cluzel manages to take the reins of the race at the start of the 5th lap. The n ° 16 of the MV Agusta team is imitated by Sofuoglu who places his n ° 54 Kawasaki in front of the n ° 99 of Jacobsen. The Turk attacks the Frenchman in the chicane preceding the return straight and retains first place in the – very big – following braking.

But at the end of the pit straight, Jules regains the lead of the race! The halfway mark is then crossed and the pilots delay: Jules and his F3 lead in front of Kenan and Patrick and their ZX-6Rs. Kyle Smith and Gino Rea on their CBR600RR complete the Top 5, respectively seven and eight seconds behind the top three.

Sofuoglu digs up the hatchet on the 9th lap, overtaking Cluzel again in the pif-paf commanding the long straight line and remains in the lead under braking. We expect a response from the Frenchman from the first braking of the 10th lap but his MV Agusta lets him go in front of the pits. !

As in Thailand, our tricolor n ° 16 must give up when he was able to win! Jules puts his motorbike against a low wall, kneels down and hits the ground furiously with his two fists … The MV Agusta team is petrified: calming "Julo" is not going to be easy.

On the track, Kenan Sofuoglu feels himself growing wings. The three-time world champion gradually drops Patrick Jacobsen and heads for his first victory of the season. Honda Pata team rookie Kyle Smith gets third place.

Four seconds from the podium, Gino Rea is fighting to keep his fourth place coveted by Lorenzo Zanetti and the second official F3 still in the race. The fight between English and Italian energizes an end of the race made too calm by the abandonment of Cluzel.

Kenan Sofuoglu celebrates his 28th World Supersport victory with a masterful rear wheel under the checkered flag. The Turkish champion is accompanied on the Spanish podium by the American Patrick Jacobsen and the English Kyle Smith.

Predicted by Lorenzo Zanetti at the exit of the last corner, Gino Rea still manages to beat his rival at the finish line. French fans have much to be frustrated with: Mahias made a mistake while aiming for a Top5, Cluzel was deprived of a potential victory…

Sofuoglu which had not won for a year – Aragon 2014! – took advantage of his first success of the 2015 World Supersport season to take the lead in the championship (with 55 points) ahead of Jacobsen (42), Wilairot (36), Rea (35) and Zanetti (31).

Cluzel’s counter remained stuck at 25 points from his Australian victory, so that the No. 16 MV Agusta slipped to eighth position behind Smith and Baldolini. Strongly Assen, next week, that our ” Julo ” and his F3 675 – especially! – resume…
