Premiere in 2009
The Aprilia RSV4 really has it all: an engine that initially developed 180 hp when it premiered in 2009, pushes cautiously from below, leaves the earth’s orbit at the top, is also good to drink, but never overtaxes its power on the road; A fat electronics package will optionally follow from 2010 “APRC” with traction and wheelie control as well as quickshifter, from 2013 including ABS.
Aprilia
The RSV4 R is the basic version. The Factory existed before.
This makes sense not only on the racetrack, where the V4 bike shows its sporting ambitions more than on the leisurely I-drive-sometimes-50-kilometer-get-bread-roll. The Aprilia RSV4 is constantly evolving and is still in showrooms today and has not lost its attractiveness over the years. This is also evident on the used market. Depending on the year of construction and equipment variant, you have to put at least 7,000 copies on the table for eight-year-olds – repaired fall damage cannot be ruled out. Electronics problems are one of the most common shortcomings. Despite RSV4, there are no longer any problems with the in-laws.
engine
The 65-degree V4 engine with a 180 degree crank pin offset grumbles mechanically loud and irregular – but simply legendary. The first model years in particular are not as sophisticated as the super sports cars from Japan when it comes to throttle response and load changes. The initial 180 hp became 201 hp over the years. Technical and especially electronic defects can occur. Since the revision of the oil circuit for model year 2011, the clutch of the first series separates much better, the mechanical background noise from the engine of the Aprilia RSV4 has decreased.
landing gear
Anyone looking for a sporty motorcycle with a perfect chassis will inevitably come across the Aprilia RSV4. With a wheelbase of 1,420 millimeters to begin with, a steering head angle of 65.6 degrees, 105 millimeters of caster and a full tank of 204 kilograms, it is only average on paper, but the measure of all things on the slopes. Reason: the very compact and narrow engine with a favorable center of gravity, which has even been optimized over the years, as well as the short crankshaft and centralized masses. The coordination of the spring elements (in all versions) harmonizes wonderfully with the chassis. Stable like on rails, agile like a 600, strong like Popeye: simply ingenious.

Aprilia
The chassis of the Aprilia RSV4 is impressive.
Certainly not the chapter in which a super athlete can convince. Not even the Aprilia RSV4, which accommodates its driver perfectly compactly for the racetrack, but puts a lot of strain on wrists and knees in everyday life. In addition, the V4 unit likes to drink over the thirst, around seven liters of fuel per 100 kilometers are more the rule. Of course, it cuts a fine figure at the ice cream parlor, especially because the driver can cool down there too: the motorcycle heats up a lot in city traffic. The Aprilia has to be serviced every 10,000 kilometers.
security
The four-piston fixed calipers from Brembo can be metered and decelerated very well. An ABS including three-stage lift detection is only available with the extensive update for the 2013 model year. The multi-stage traction, launch and wheelie control (APRC package) and various engine mappings complete the good features of the Aprilia RSV4. The little helpers were continuously improved over the construction period.
