Tour tip

The classic in the Black Forest still has a lot to offer. Especially Schauinsland, Feldberg, Titisee and the Spitzenstrabe from the B 500 to Kirchzarten are tough.

Prejudices are there to be refuted. That is why Dirk Schafer set out for the trauma country of his youth and ran through the supposed cliche. He got to know a whole new side of the Black Forest.

  1. Departure in Freiburg in the direction of Gunterstal and Schauinsland (note blocking times!). Before the junction towards Hofsgrund, on the right, there is a magnificent view of the Rhine Valley and the Vosges. Continue towards Notschrei. Over the top of the pass on a good route down to Todtnau. Option: Todtnau waterfalls.
  2. In Todtnau turn left towards Feldberg, B 317. After 7.5 kilometers turn left onto the road to “Todtnauer Hut”. Manoeuvrable route with few dropouts. At the hut, a fantastic view far away from the Feldberg rumble.
  3. Back on the B 317. At the top of the pass, the Stichstrasse to the Feldberg with parking garage. Footpath or chairlift to the summit. Back on the B 317, direction Titisee. 4.8 kilometers later, optionally turn left towards Bruderhalde and continue along the Titisee. Numerous overnight accommodations by the lake.
  4. At the exit of Titisee-Neustadt a few meters on the B 31 towards Freiburg. Branch to the golf course “Black Forest” take and continue towards Heiligenbrunnen. The route meets the B 500, turn right and five kilometers afterwards turn left into Spirzenstrasse. Wonderful route down the valley to Kirchzarten.
  5. Before Kirchzarten, avoid the B 31 to Freiburg and continue towards Kirchzarten, Stegen, Waldsee. Then on the B 31 and back into the Freiburg city area.
