MOTORCYCLE tour tip – Siegerland
Sharpening curves in the east and west of Siegen

Tour tip

Win? First association: The 104 meter high and 1400 meter long Siegtalbrucke of the A 45. Right and left of the Sauerland line: motorcycle forests. With 65 percent forest, the Siegen-Wittgenstein district is the most densely forested district in Germany. The Lahn, Eder and Sieg also arise in these forests, just the thing for boundless expedition madness.

But let’s not worry about the borders of the Siegerland, neither in the west nor in the east. Geographically, the Wildenburger Land belongs to the Siegerland anyway and it would be a shame to leave it out. In the east we make a small excursion to northern Hesse. We glide here partly through sparsely populated hiking paradises, if you are a little considerate you will reap many friendly faces. As one calls into the forest, it resounds … Before we motorcyclists are completely denied access!

Tour: Siegerland West

  1. From Biggesee to Wildbergerhutte. At the hip biker hangout “Bigge grill” a biker sausage with french fries and off you go. From there past Drolshagen and half cough, through cough to Blockhaus. Here is one of our favorite meadows, with a wonderful view of the Siebengebirge. And great waffles in the Panoramahutte at the Blockhaus (www.panoramahuette-am-blockhaus.de). After this culinary excess, we go to …
  2. Wildenburger Land. Past Crottorf Castle, first mentioned in 1326 as Hof Crottorf. This was converted into a moated castle in 1542. as “a piece of paradise that fell out of heaven” it was designated in 1661 by the artist Domenico Rosso. 4.5 km later we turn onto small streets, slide through the picturesque Wipperbachtal and turn off to Birken-Honey-Dinner. We brush against victory in knowledge and drive through the even more beautiful Brolbachtal. Before we reach Katzwinkel, we turn north again. Funny place names, isn’t it?
  3. Freudenberg. Before Friesenhagen the asphalt is really cool, right in the direction of Freudenberg great curves, but unfortunately miserable asphalt. Anyone who loses touch with the group here simply meets in the picturesque half-timbered old town of Freudenberg. A walk is definitely recommended! If you have a little more time, visit the technology museum (www.technik museum-freudenberg.de).
  4. Turn. Now a little zigzag through the Wildenburger Land, we cross the major traffic artery A 45 and pass Wenden. Be careful behind Neuenkleusheim! Theoretically it could get sporty here, but the race management can hide very cleverly and is happy to calculate the average driven here too. If you see her, it’s too late.

  1. Between Dodenau and Bad Laasphe. Because it’s so beautiful, we start 8 km beyond the Siegerland, from the Hotel Sassor. A wonderful bend after just 1 km. Elsoff, Beddelhausen, Richstein, Puderbach. With a little luck you won’t meet anyone.
  2. Via Sassenhausen to Feudingen. We make a swerve to the north and dive back into solitude for about 30 km.
  3. Ilsetal. From Feudingen up the Ilsetal and shortly before the source of the Lahn down the mountain to Hainchen. Another 20 km of seclusion.
  4. Lutzel. I see the part from Hainchen to Walpersdorf as a transit. 11 km of sweet solitude follow. The street becomes narrower, it goes up to the Lutzel. Turn left, the road becomes wide, the asphalt is great. The knee sliders meet between Lutzel and Netphen. Because it’s so beautiful there, the race management is also on site, takes the time and calculates your average in a flash. You won’t see them until they wave the trowel! Stop at the Waldhaus Sohlbach in Netphen. Then up the spectacular mountain again. At the top we turn left, a digestive walk up to the Gillerberg tower.
  5. We roll into Erndtebruck, 8 km away. This is where Rudolf Bald’s BMW collection beckons. The classic heart beats a few beats faster, here are over 50 BMWs built from 1923 onwards (www.bmw-ausstellung.de).
  6. Go home. Via Rhinte to Bad Berleburg. We leave civilization behind us again, Laibach, Seibelsbach, Dachsloch, Dodenau.
