Problem with sensor

Yamaha has to recall around 550 YZF R1 motorcycles to the workshops in Germany. Atmospheric pressure sensor errors are not recognized by the diagnostic system.

A possible error in the atmospheric pressure sensor on the machines affected by the recall cannot be detected by the diagnostic system. Accordingly, the motorcycles may not be able to comply with the statutory regulations for on-board diagnostics (OBD). The reason for this is a program error in the engine control.

In Germany 546 are called back Yamaha YZF R1 and R1-M from model year 2020. This affects chassis numbers from the areas JYARN651000000301 to JYARN651000004163 and JYARN655000000301 to JYARN655000001084.

During the workshop visit, which Yamaha estimates at around half an hour, new software is installed on the engine management system. Drivers of affected machines are asked to contact their dealer. The campaign is free for customers.

How do you feel about recall?

Voted 2643 times

It’s annoying, but ultimately I benefit from it as a customer.

I feel insecure and I lose confidence in the technology / the manufacturer.

Conclusion

Because a sensor may not be recognized by the diagnosis system, the Yamaha YZF R1 needs new software for the engine control.
