At the end of 2010, Ducati announced a partnership with the Mercedes car brand (see MP news). This news was accompanied by a small video promo where a Diavel sintered with a Merco CLS 63 AMG…. A kind of premonitory clip, because the Italian brand will present at the Frankfurt Motor Show 11 a special series of its roadster-custom: the 1200 Diavel AMG Special Edition.

Produced in limited numbers, this Diavel is sprinkled with nods to AMG’s sports department. For those who don’t know, this is a specialist workshop that turns German star sedans into monsters of power, with big V8s coming out in the 500 horsepower range..
As you can imagine, there is no question of finding 8 cylinders in the bowels of this Diavel. Starting from the Diavel Carbon, the Bologna manufacturer has refined an aura of prestige. The operation is aesthetic with a full black livery (Diamond White Bright) where only the trellis frame is dazzled by Mercedes gray. The radiator scoops are completed with aluminum grilles reminiscent of the grille of sedans. We discover superb double-spoke rims as well as special exhausts. These elements are distinguished by an obviously very typical AMG design. An acronym that can be found on the trim of the pots, the edges of the rims, the air intakes, and on the upholstery. The latter is covered with alcantara.
Small detail that is usually seen exclusively on the engines of prestigious cars: the left crankcase is signed by the technician who took care of the engine tuning. Just to understand which guy you stalled the 162 horses ready to slaughter the 240 tire.

You can now order this Diavel AMG Special Edition but you will not have it until 2012. In order to distinguish himself a little more, the owner will have the joy of knowing that his machine will be emblazoned with a numbered plate attached to the tank.
