David Schoone loves to ride off-road motorcycles, but sees only one feasible way to continue his hobby in the future – electromobility. As a mechanical engineering student in Wilhelmshaven, he seized the opportunity and started developing his own electric enduro in 2018.
From the first project around a Yamaha DT 125, the startup Envecotricity has now developed and the plan to market a first electric off-road model from the end of 2022.
From the end of 2022 for less than 10,000 euros

The development goal of the Envecotricity NTRX was from the start to create a motorcycle that was as versatile as possible that could withstand everyday use as well as off-road sports. The top priority was to reduce noise emissions and the use of lubricants to a minimum and, at the same time, to achieve maintenance intervals that were as long as possible. In addition, the NTRX is to be homologated for several vehicle classes at the same time, so that the machine can be driven from AM to A with every two-wheel driving license and programmed to the corresponding specifications through simple software adjustments. The projected sales price should in any case remain below 10,000 euros.
Up to 42 kW and 135 kilometers wide
Schoone is currently testing and developing its prototype extensively. The NTRX currently offers a nominal output of 8 and a peak output of 21 kW. The maximum torque is given as 350 Nm. With a 4.3 kWh battery, the machine, which weighs around 115 kilograms, has a real everyday range of 110 kilometers at a possible top speed of 105 km / h.
For the series version of the NTRX AXF, however, Schoone provides significantly different values. The nominal output should increase to a whopping 32, the peak output to 42 kW. Correspondingly, the torque climbs to 550 Nm. The two-wheeler, slimmed down to 107.5 kilograms, is to create a range of 135 kilometers at a maximum of 125 km / h with a 5.2 kWh battery. A 7 kWh battery is already planned for a later variant.

A quick-change system for the battery is planned, in which the battery can be changed in five minutes. The charging time is specified as 2.5 hours. The charger can also be carried under the bench. The battery system has a modular structure and can thus be adapted to any application.
Two engine concepts planned
The prototype with a self-made steel frame relies on a front fork on a 48 USD fork, while Schoone installs a WP PDS central spring strut at the rear. The e-drive sits as a hub motor in the rear wheel. In the final stage, a water-cooled in-house development should deliver the high performance steadily. Since the relatively large undamped and rotating masses associated with the hub drive limit the suitability of the NTRX for high-performance sports, Schoone also considered the option of equipping the enduro with a classic mid-engine concept and chain drive when developing the NTRX AXF be able.
The NTRX AXF should go into practical testing as early as summer 2021. Series production could start at the end of 2022 – but then initially without road approval.

Conclusion
Mechanical engineering student David Schoone dreams of an electric enduro. The dream has now turned into a startup and the plan to bring the first electric model into series production at the end of 2022. Sounds like a dream. We keep our fingers crossed.
