Motorcycle tour tip – Lake Garda Monte Baldo
Motorcycle tour tip – Lake Garda Alpine Tour
Monte Baldo – sharp curves and Italian flair
Tour tip
The Monte-Baldo-Rundem, with its sharp curves and the best Italian flair, gives us a joie de vivre that is hardly thought possible.

One of the classics is the round over Monte Baldo on the east side of Lake Garda. Spectacular views, spectacular drive. As soon as the shore of the lake is left behind, the traffic clears. It will be particularly chic at the Brentonico-Avio junction: the height restriction and the very narrow route should keep mobile homes and many others away. And that puts you on the right side when it comes to panorama: At the Rifugio Bocca di Navene. The classic Lake Garda feeling is intoxicating on the eastern shore of the lake. Small detours into the mountains provide a thrill. Not only are the views amazing, the route is also amazing. Switchbacks of the tightest kind. Less experienced people can stay on the quayside. A wonderful delicacy awaits the others. End in Torri del Benaco on the lake shore.
route: 190 km / Travel time: 6-8 hours (and overnight stay)

The starting shot is given in San Zegno di Montagna ➤ Turn off the main road in the direction of Lumini. There on the SP29 to Caprino Veronese ➤ Before the church portal, turn left towards Spiazzi. Nice country road, wide curves ➤ In Spiazzi an inconspicuous fork, turn left towards Sacrario del Baldo (SP8 you) keep. The road becomes very narrow at first, then widens a little. Past quarry stone walls, uphill in several serpentines to a plateau and past the military cemetery.
Continue uphill in easy bends to the confluence with the SP8 ➤ Keep left towards Brentonico. Road a little further. In two hairpin bends to Passo Cavallo. Pretty wagging of bends, surprising combinations of bends, great views ➤ 7 km after Passo Cavallo ignore the junction from the right, continue straight ahead, narrow stretch, blind bends, slowly! ➤ 3 km after the junction, turn off to the left, cul-de-sac to the lookout point, four narrow hairpin bends, free parking. Walk to the viewpoint about 10 minutes. It’s easier a few meters further at the Rifugio Bocca die Navene. Best view from the small terrace. Coffee and cake included ➤ Next resting place 2.5 km later Rifugio Graziani.

Further on SP3, spectacular route, natural tunnel, rock overhangs ➤ next confluence: route option / tank trip to Avio via SP208, wild tangle of curves and lots of hairpin bends, clean asphalt, refueling facility in Avio ➤ back over the SP208 to the starting point of the detour ➤ right on the SP3 Direction Rovereto / Brentonico, from now on smooth asphalt downhill. After Frenten there is a wider route ➤ In Mori, turn left towards Riva del Garda. Significantly more traffic from now on. ➤ At the large roundabout in Nago – Torbole, take the turnoff to Riva del Garda. Immediately after the left bend, parking lot with a view ➤ At the next roundabout, direction Malcesine. 200m later ice cream parlor La Bottega de Gelato. Motorcycle parking spaces directly opposite. Lake view.
On the SS249 along the east bank of the lake. Magnificent views, a lot of traffic. Passage through Malcesine prone to traffic jams. ➤ Roundabout in Assenza to the left towards Castello. ➤ Shortly after the “Castello” signposted turnoff to the left, very acute-angled! Possibly use the parking lot opposite to turn around. From now on tight serpentines (first gear) and steep inclines. Good view of the lake. ➤ The confluence of the SP9 on SP29, right to San Zegno ➤ In San Zegno turn right towards Castelleto ➤ Turn left again on the quayside to Torri de Benaco ➤ In Torri del Benaco watch out for the church tower and turn right into the direct access to the church tower. Motorcycle parking.
Lakeshore with cafes and restaurants in the afternoon sun. ➤ Back to San Zegno di Montagna: from the church tower right, next street left and the SP32a consequences. ➤ At the end of this, click on the left SP9 to San Zegno.
