Most manufacturers have not yet revealed much about the models for 2021. But no cause for alarm, after all, we are only in the early stages of 2020. Nevertheless, there are already some motorcycles that are very likely to hit the streets in model year 2021. In addition, prototypes and concept bikes have recently been shown that offer an outlook for the model year 2021 or later. In addition, some potential newcomers drove in front of the camera as Erlkonig for 2021. Many currently available models also receive important updates, as the new Euro 5 standard will apply from 2021. For example, it can be assumed that Yamaha could work on a new or at least heavily revised MT-07.

Harley-Davidson is breaking new ground

Harley-Davidson brings a travel enduro with the Pan America.

It’s no big secret that Harley-Davidson wants to and will break new ground. It has long been known that the US manufacturer is working on a travel enduro called Pan America. Also called the street fighter “Bronx” is in the starting blocks and will take to the streets in model year 2021. Other electric motorcycles, which were already on view as a study, as well as less powerful bikes for beginners should also be anchored in the future plans of Harley-Davidson.

Although the Husqvarna Norden is currently still a concept bike, the right series model is expected for 2021.

A concept bike from Husqvarna caused quite a stir at EICMA 2019. With the “north” the KTM subsidiary presented a chic travel enduro prototype that is actually being implemented as a production bike in a similar way. It is not yet entirely clear whether this will be the case in model year 2021, but it cannot be ruled out either. Otherwise new Svart and Vitpilen models with larger engines could be in the starting blocks from Husqvarna. Model variations of the models just mentioned are also conceivable for 2021. The big sister KTM, on the other hand, seems to be working on some new models that will roll out with a newly developed 490 cc engine. In addition, it was recently leaked that the manufacturer GasGas, which belongs to the KTM group and whose focus is more on off-road bikes, would also like to offer street models in the future.

New Hayabusa, bye GSX-R 1000?

Suzuki is finally delighting us with a new Hayabusa?

The past few years have shown us that unfortunately we cannot expect too much from Suzuki. We had been hoping for a new Hayabusa for the last two years – but there was no presentation. True to the motto “New Year New luck” let’s hope that Suzuki is working on a new Hayabusa for the 2021 model year. Recently published patent applications show that there is actually something to it. However, there seems to be bad news from another Suzuki legend: According to Suzuki France, the GSX-R 1000 will be out of the range in model year 2021 due to the Euro 5 standard. However, our French neighbors also mentioned in a statement that the GSX-R 1000 could return in 2023 as part of the introduction of the Euro 5b standard.

Euro 5 ensures revised models

Yamaha

The current MT-07 is a true bestseller, and it is highly likely that it will be revised for the 2021 model year.

Many models currently available do not meet the Euro 5 standard that will apply from 2021. Accordingly, it can be assumed that numerous bikes can look forward to major updates. Although the big manufacturers are not yet really looking into their cards, we firmly assume that bestsellers such as the Yamaha MT-07 will be revised for the 2021 model year. If you look at the models recently introduced by Yamaha, we can expect major updates. Recently, Yamaha had generously revised the MT-03 and MT-125 and brought them closer to the more powerfully motorized bikes. What applies to Yamaha also applies to other manufacturers. It will be interesting to see which bikes will drop out of the model range in 2021 and which will be revised.

News from Ducati, Triumph and Honda

The Desert X 1100 is a concept bike from Ducati.

Although larger manufacturers such as Ducati and Honda have been keeping a low profile when it comes to new models for the year 2021, both manufacturers have recently shown some very tasty concept bikes at various trade fairs. Examples include the Honda CB4X-Concept, Ducati Desert X 1100 or Ducati Scrambler Motard. Experts also assume that Ducati is working on a new Multistrada with a V4 engine. Moto Morini also used EICMA 2019 to present new concepts that will very likely hit the streets as series models in 2021. Meanwhile, Triumph is working on a brand new Triumph Tiger 1200, which we drove in front of the camera as Erlkonig.

New production models from Kymco & Co.

Kymco has already confirmed that the RevoNex will hit the streets in 2021.

Some manufacturers used EICMA 2019 to present models that will not be ready in 2020, but will hit the streets in model year 2021. One of these bikes is the Kymco RevoNex electric motorcycle. Apart from that, a lot of small and not really well-known manufacturers are working on mostly electrically powered new models.
