V-Strom 1050 new included

Not much is happening at Suzuki in the 2020 model year either. With the V-Strom 1050, a completely new model is offered, which is also available as an XT variant.

With 5,394 motorcycles sold, Suzuki was able to sell 14 fewer units on the German market than last year. That is enough for a market share of only 4.8 percent market share, with 414 scooters sold only 2.5 percent. Suzuki’s bestseller is the Evergreen SV 650 with 1,388 units, closely followed by the mid-range naked bike GSX-S 750 with 1,376 registrations.

V-Strom 1050 new in the model range

When it comes to the variety of models, however, Suzuki is shy: suddenly there is no trace of a new Hayabusa, for example. For 2020, the small V-Strom 250 will also be out of the range. The large Burgman 650 is also no longer available. Some models are available in new colors for this, and here and there there is a small design update.

When it comes to travel enduros, Suzuki is involved with the new V-Strom 1050 / XT. It has been subtly redesigned, technically revised and compliant with Euro 5 with more power, new electronics and improved ergonomics.

Suzuki GSX-R 125

Suzuki.

Suzuki GSX-R 125.

The GSX-R single-cylinder engine uses the 15 HP limit to the full, runs in a cultivated manner and revs bravely to just over 12,000 rpm. Combined with the low total weight, the smallest Gixxer makes a sporty appearance. In the 2020 model year, the design of the stickers on the side panel will change slightly, the machine will have a hazard warning light switch and lighting for the keyless ignition lock.

Suzuki GSX-S 125

Suzuki.

Suzuki GSX-S 125.

If you prefer to sit a little more upright in the wind, take the GSX-S 125. It shares the lively, easy-revving single-cylinder engine with its sister GSX-R 125 and has the same speedy performance. The naked bike is even a bit cheaper to buy than its fully faired counterpart. In addition to the color variant shown above, the GSX-S 125 is also available in Suzuki blue and white with blue wheels.

In addition to the entry-level model Address 110, the Suzuki Burgman 400 is part of the Suzuki model portfolio in 2020. The larger Suzuki Burgman 650, on the other hand, is no longer available and is no longer part of the model range.

Suzuki GSX-S 750

Suzuki.

Suzuki GSX-S 750.

With even power output and predictable driving behavior, the GSX-S 750 offers a lot of motorcycle for the money. This is the conclusion about the mid-range naked bike in the last group test. Even if not the lightest machine in its category, the stiffly sprung 750, equipped with a firm brake and smooth gearbox, delivers a convincing performance for this price range. There are four colors to choose from, including the red shown above, classic Suzuki blue, white and black.

Suzuki SV 650

Suzuki

Suzuki SV 650.

The SV 650 has been part of the established model range at Suzuki since 1999 and quickly became a real hit. For the last model year, the road sweeper got a more stable four-piston brake with newer ABS. That is enough to keep up with the front runners in their class. The SV 650 was now 200 euros more expensive, but such a thoroughly honest motorcycle with an elegant steel tubular space frame and fine 90-degree V2 engine is still nowhere else at this price. Your engine in particular is enthusiastic, because it speaks to its sporty driving performance also still soft and cultivated. Incidentally, the machine is a popular tool even on the race track in the IDM Twin Cup. The SV 650 X cafe racer variant with a rounded windshield and clip-on handlebars is no longer available, and so the tried-and-tested look and technology will remain for the normal 650 in the new model year. Customers can choose between the colors gray, anthracite and black, each with a blue, red and black frame and wheels.

Suzuki V-Strom 650 / XT

Suzuki

Suzuki V-Strom 650 / XT.

As before, the V-Strom 650 Suzuki internally ranks even ahead of its big sister with 1,000 cubic meters on the popularity scale. The “small” machine runs stably, it has a well-tuned chassis, and thanks to the large tank volume, it offers decent ranges. When it comes to wind protection and passenger comfort, she even leaves her direct competitors behind. Due to its high reliability, the lively drive with little thirst on the one hand and the great suitability for everyday use on the other hand, the 650 is the ideal companion for many even on long journeys. Speaking of which: For long stages and light off-road excursions, the better equipped XT variant with hand protectors, engine protection and painted wire-spoke wheels is recommended. A two-stage (and switchable) traction control is standard on both model variants. For the future, a modernized seating position, a fresh look and perhaps a shorter overall translation are on the wish list. Repositioned like this, the V-Strom 650 would be full of music again.

Suzuki GSX-R 1000 / R

Suzuki.

Suzuki GSX-R 1000 / R.

Supersport bikes from almost all manufacturers are now tailored to race track use in a narrow window. Affectionately called “Kilo-Gixxer” by its followers, the GSX-R 1000 provides one of the few counterexamples. The 202 hp four-cylinder operates its valves via rocker arms and is equipped with a mechanically variable adjustment of the inlet valve timing, which generates a full torque curve. In the country road comparison test, the Gixxer scored points with its engine, stable chassis and good-natured driving behavior. In the last big test on PS’s Nordschleife, it also impressed with its stability over crests and waves in the asphalt as well as its reliable guidance of the front wheel. Compared to the competition, which is fully trimmed on the racetrack, the Gixxer cannot quite keep up with electronics and handiness, but its somewhat conservative design works great on the country road. In 2020 the R model will also be available in white, and the standard version will get a blipper as standard.

Suzuki GSX-S 1000 / F

Suzuki.

Suzuki GSX-S 1000 F..

The 2020 model year will be tackled by the Suzuki GSX-S 1000 and the slightly more touristy F version with new colors, some of which cost extra. Mechanically and electronically, nothing has changed in the meantime. Both Suzukis are made up of the modular system and carry a lot of technology (motor, frame, swing arm) from the super sports car GSX-R 1000 from 2005 to 2016. The potent in-line quad is in a stable chassis and helps the Suzis achieve very sporty driving performance. It inspires with a strong acceleration, delivers good pulling power and is easy to turn. Only its sometimes pronounced load change reactions and the vibrations should not be. The bottom line, however, applies to both models: If you are not looking for a machine that is state-of-the-art in all respects, you will get a lot of power naked for relatively little money. The MOTORRAD endurance test also produced a positive result when the GSX-S 1000 F earned the nickname Suzi Carefree due to its solid design and resistance to defects.

Suzuki Katana

Suzuki Katana.

The retro-futuristically styled Katana is technically derived directly from the GSX-S 1000, so it is powered by the powerful 150 hp four-cylinder engine. As far as the seating position is concerned, the high handlebars, which are slightly more cranked towards the driver, as well as the slightly wider design of the fairing create a harmonious, pleasant driving behavior. In terms of equipment, the Katana has the brakes of the super sports car GSX-R 1000, LED light and indicators, and has a fairly manageable tank volume of just twelve liters.

Suzuki V-Strom 1000 / XT.

Bargain hunters should keep an eye out for the 2019 machine and possible discount promotions. The price-performance ratio of the travel enduro has always been top. Your 1037 cubic V2 is directly on the gas and delivers its maximum torque of 101 Nm at 4,000 tours. The V-Strom 1000 does not have any real weaknesses, only the meager electronic equipment and the somewhat aged concept cost points in the end. The XT version has painted wire-spoke wheels and a sturdier handlebar. Incidentally, the V-Strom 1000 is no longer listed on the official German manufacturer website.

Suzuki

Suzuki V-Strom 1050 / XT.

The V-Strom 1050 is driven by the well-known 90-degree V2 engine with 1037 cubic meters. In the 2020 model, however, thanks to new forged pistons with piston rings and adapted valve timing, the twin delivers a good six hp more peak power. The modernized, freshly tuned V2 manages Euro 5. It has larger, completely electronically controlled throttle valves (49 instead of 45 mm) and has a modernized engine management system. New on board are six-axis sensors and updated electronic assistance systems (some only available in the XT model) such as driving modes, traction control, a combination braking system with multi-level ABS or hill start assist. Tokico monoblock brake calipers, a new Kayaba chassis with fully adjustable fork and a revised seating position for driver and front passenger strengthen the overall package of the V-Strom 1050. The XT model is more luxuriously equipped, drives among other things engine protection bars, adjustable windshield, wire-spoke wheels, Main stand and LED indicators on as standard.
