The Bremen motorcycles have an average of 81.6 hp, while the Thuringians have an average of 59.9 hp, according to an evaluation by the price comparison portal Check24.

All motorcycle insurance policies that were taken out via Check24 in 2019 were compared, with the number of relevant insurance policies being in the high five-digit range. The statistics include adult motorcycles as well as scooters and motorcycles up to 125 cm³ displacement that are subject to insurance.

Bremer has the most powerful engine with 81.6 hp

According to this evaluation, the Bremen motorcyclists have the most powerful motorized vehicles with an average of 81.6 hp, followed by the Saarlanders who have an average of 77.1 hp. Lower Saxony ranks third, here the motorcycles have an average of 74.9 hp, while Schleswig-Holstein follows with 74.2 hp. In North Rhine-Westphalia the motorized two-wheelers subject to compulsory insurance have an average of 74.0 HP, in Rhineland-Palatinate the value is 72.0 HP.

Bavaria in 12th place with 69.9 hp

An average value of 71.7 hp was determined for Baden-Wurttemberg and Hamburg, the motorcycles in Brandenburg have a touch less power on average – 71.2 hp. The motor power of the bikes in Berlin is an average of 70.4 HP, the Hessian motorcyclists together have 70.2 HP while in Bavaria it is 69.9 HP. In Saxony, the average value of motorcycles insured via Check24 in 2019 was 69.7 hp, in Saxony-Anhalt it was 67.7 hp. The motorized two-wheelers in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have an average of 66.0 hp, Thuringia marks the end of the table with 59.6 hp.

Conclusion

The published data do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the displacement. It could of course be that in the federal states with a lower average performance there are relatively more young drivers in the 125cc class. Or that there are more commuters in Berlin with scooters, which usually have less power than full-blown motorcycles.
