News - Return of the air Monster: Ducati is working on its entry-level - Used DUCATI

Photographed during a road test, the next Ducati Monster (803 cc air like the Scrambler?) Could be unveiled at the next Intermot or Eicma 2016 autumn shows … and soon land in dealerships. Ducati needs it !

Admittedly, the "Scrambler" brand represents a formidable gateway to the reds of Bologna dealerships. But not all bikers, even the "djeun’s", adhere to the yellow, sunny, cool, trendy and (over) worked universe of the small Italian bike with the Californian accent..

However, since the arrival of – and therefore the departure of, the last "Ducati" motorcycle to date with an air-cooled engine -, there is no longer a single model in the Ducati catalog in the roadster department, a single model and not – too expensive…

Even in its Dark version (black or black, your choice), the price of the "eight-twenty-one" peaks at 10,650 €! For comparison, the current entry-level Ducati costs nearly 4,000 euros more than that of Yamaha, the (6,799 €) which has been at the top of the list since its release….

Fortunately for the "small" Monster, its price is justified by performance clearly superior to the real "small" twin cylinders of the competition, in particular as regards the values of power and torque: respectively 112 ch and 89.4 Nm (Vs 74.8 hp and 68 Nm to take the example of the MT-07).

Suddenly, the "djeun’s" allowed who saved and dreamed since childhood of a Ducati as their first mount – since Father Christmas had slipped them one under the tree ?! – must necessarily turn to the – Ducati – or to a roadster of another brand, the Monster 821 cannot be restricted to 35 kW…

Site had already discussed this problem with the boss of Ducati last year (read our). At the question "Will the Scrambler remain the new and only entry level in your home? ?", the big Italian boss was content to answer:"Maybe not…".

Today the answer is clearly "no", since a new Monster model has been seen and photographed (!) By an excellent papparazi: on the pictures published recently by our English and German colleagues clearly appears an entry roadster of range…

Twin in L air-cooled, fully tubular frame, inverted but sober fork, offset shock absorber connected to a double oscillating arm, double disc with radial calipers, low and invisible pot (seen from left): the "regulatory" equipment of a mini Monster is respected !

Even compared to the, Ducati seems to have played the card of simplicity: no aluminum rear buckle, no perforated tank, no oversized swingarm … And all while maintaining a modern look that sets it apart from previous 695 models. or 620.

By mounting a twin-cylinder engine on its new Monster that looks exactly like that of the Scrambler (currently Euro3 …), Ducati ensures the possibility of restraining its motorcycle and – finally – an "A2 motorcycle" compulsory for all new motorcycle license holders, young or old. The Bologna brand needs it. And some bikers want it ?!
