The BMW R 1250 GS was newly registered in September 2019 528 times and thus almost twice as often as the Honda Africa Twin, which was placed in second place. In total, the successful German bike was able to register 8,857 new registrations in the course of the year. For comparison: The Yamaha MT-07, which is placed behind, has 3,453 new registrations so far in 2019. Speaking of MT-07: In September, the Yamaha naked bike landed in third place with 236 new registrations.

KTM represented with five models.

With no less than five models, KTM is most frequently represented in the ranking. The most successful Austrian was the 790 Duke with 147 new registrations. Also included are the 690 SMC (130 new registrations), 390 Duke (119 new registrations), 1290 Super Adventure / R (78 new registrations) and 790 Adventure (76 new registrations).

Unusual sight: the BMW R nineT Racer rarely makes it into the top 20.

Otherwise, a total of four models from BMW, including the BMW R nineT Racer, and three each from Kawasaki, Yamaha and Honda made it. Harley-Davidson and Suzuki are also represented with one bike each in the top 20 new registrations in September. Harley-Davidson Street has exactly 100 new registrations; the Suzuki SV 650 was able to book 85 new registrations.

The KTM 125 Duke remains at the forefront of the 125 cc. In September the KTM bike was registered 254 times. The Austrian manufacturer’s naked bike recorded a total of 2,741 new registrations in 2019. In the annual ranking, the Honda CB 125 R followed with 1,284 new registrations, closely followed by the Yamaha MT-125 with 1,246 new registrations.

The Vespa Primavera is the most popular model among scooters. The Piaggio scooter has registered a whopping 1,675 new registrations so far in 2019. The Niu N-GT / M + followed at a considerable distance with 833 new registrations, followed by two more scooters from Piaggio (Vespa GTS 125 Super with 691 new registrations and Liberty 125 with 658 new registrations).

Two-wheeler market continues to develop positively

In general, the entire two-wheeler market is developing quite positively this year. If you compare the new registrations from January to September of last year with the figures for 2019, an increase of 6.54 percent can be recorded. In absolute numbers at this point in time last year there were a total of 140,879 new registrations – this year there have been 150,089 new registrations so far.

Most of the new registrations were recorded in Bavaria. 36,598 two-wheelers were newly registered there. It is followed by the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia with 27,090 new registrations, Baden-Wurttemberg with 24,850 new registrations and Lower Saxony with 13,374 new registrations.
