NCR Millona 16: the ultimate Ducati Desmosedici RR !

News - NCR Millona 16: the ultimate Ducati Desmosedici RR! - Used DUCATI NCR

Italian tuner NCR has succeeded in making the already fabulous Ducati Desmosedici RR even more valuable and efficient: the NCR M16 unveiled at World Ducati Week is nothing but an Italian gem carved in a diamond… Presentation.

By managing to homologate and make reliable a barely moderated version of its 2006 MotoGP (read), Ducati doubtless thought to have reached the quintessence of the sporty, elitist and radical two-wheeler.

Developing more than 200 hp thanks to its supercharged 989 cc L-shaped four-cylinder, the Bologna ball could already boast of being the only true replica of a MotoGP … A status that it is paying for by ultra-confidential distribution and an astronomical price of 60,000 euros !

However, the degree of perfection tutored by the Desmosedici RR was not enough for the Italian preparer NCR: created in 1967 at Borgo Panigale (a piston throw from Ducati) by Rino Caracchi, Giorgo and Rizzi Nepoti in order to transform Ducati as standard in racehorses, this artisanal company never ceases to push the notion of exclusivity even further through creations whose quality is more like real jewelry than simple preparation. !

Passed under the bosom of the Italian group Poggipolini in 2001, the trainer could not miss the opportunity to express his talent on the most phantasmagoric Italian ever built: last Thursday, during World Week Ducati, NCR unveiled its new wonder based on Desmosedici RR: the NCR Millona16 !

Obviously, given the degree of sophistication and performance of the Ducati 4-cylinder, NCR’s racing department has concentrated on optimizing the chassis and its components: if the NCR M16 claims substantially the same power at the rear wheel as the Desmo RR (more than 200 hp!), The Italians have managed to achieve the feat of nibbling over 20 kg by replacing the maximum number of elements with carbon, ceramic and titanium parts.

Result: the Millona 16 has a featherweight of 145 kg dry, a weight-to-power ratio that is simply mind-boggling … To achieve such a feat, the tubular trellis chassis and the original swingarm moss give way. instead of parts made of carbon fibers, while the 320 mm front discs are replaced by ceramic elements from Axis / CMC, clamped by radial Brembo monobloc calipers.

From the 2006 Ducati MotoGP, the Desmosedici Ohlins suspensions give way to a 43mm diameter FGR000 fork and Ohlins mono-shock, fully adjustable and prepared by the wizards at NCR.

To help the reckless (and wealthy) M16 owners tame the beast, NCR has also added a slip clutch and electronics of its own: including a Traction Control configurable, state-of-the-art data acquisition (with suspension work measurements) and a choice of three different injection maps, this one does not seem to have anything to envy to the current GP10 from Stoner and Hayden !

For your viewing pleasure – and to gain a few more pounds on the scale – NCR has finally copiously refined the lines of the D16RR: stripped down like an extreme roadster, the Millona 16 only retains the top of the carbon fairing. of the Desmosedici while the tank and rims trade their design in aluminum and magnesium for parts made by hand in carbon fibers.

Likewise, the rear loop – already oh so spectacular on the Desmo! -, is completely redesigned with maniacal care and exquisite finesse to surround the superb tailpipe made of titanium by NCR in carbon: we drool just imagining the melody that the Rital V4 must play with such an instrument !

Assembled on demand in the NCR workshops, this Millona 16 sublimates what already appeared to be the ultimate expression of the most fantastic combination of radicalism, technology and performance that a manufacturer has ever dared to assemble on two-wheelers … And in the face of such a feat, doubt is no longer allowed: Italy is definitely the homeland of motorcycles !

As for the price of this fantasy on two-wheelers … Well surprisingly, the technical sheet of this NCR M16 omits this "little" detail … To be continued: stay tuned !
